CROSSFIT @ PG SAN FRANCISCO

What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is elite fitness for everyone. CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity. The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and a CrossFit veteran can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity. CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenonal fitness in and of itself or as a complement to your sport-specific training regime.

CrossFit at PG SF is run by CrossFit Marin.

Our Trainer
Andres De la Rosa started his coaching career in 1995 coaching gymnastics for the City of Davis Parks & Rec while an active member of the UC Davis Men’s gymnastics team.  Since then he has instructed for Spirals gymnastics in Santa Barbara, San Mateo Gymnastics in Belmont, and Gymtowne Gymnastics in San Bruno.  In the process he has taught thousands of adults and kids how to do handstands, cartwheels, tumble, swing, flip, and move to their heart’s delight.  In the spring of 2005 Andrés was invited by Roger Harrell, the original gymnastics SME (Subject Matter Expert) for CrossFit Inc., to help teach CrossFit trainers how to coach basic gymnastics skills to athletes, clients and other coaches.  Andrés received his Level 1 CrossFit certification in the summer of 2005, in which he helped teach the gymnastics segment of the cert.

Since then he has actively been involved in the CrossFit community competing in the very first two CrossFit Games in Aromas in 2007 and 2008, the 2009 CF Games Northern California Regionals and 2009 CrossFit Games Affiliate Cup, the 2010 CrossFit Games Sectionals and Affiliate Cup Regionals as well as the 2011 CrossFit Games Open.
Andrés co-founded CrossFit Marin, the first Marin County CrossFit Affiliate in October of 2006 with his business partner Roger Harrell.  CrossFit Marin, now known as “The Cave”, is a booming gym with the most comprehensive schedule of adult and kids gymnastics, Parkour  and CrossFit classes in Southern Marin.  Andrés, along with his team of parkour coaches have designed and hosted parkour and “Ninja Warrior” style obstacle course competitions and national parkour jams that have made the gym widely known in the parkour community.

Andrés has also attended Mike Burgner’s Olympic Lifting seminars, Mike Rutherford’s dumbbell workshops and USA Gymnastics Region One Congress in Santa Clara six different years.  Andrés also enjoys climbing at local crags, competing in the PG Friction Series and Bloc Party climbing comps as well as attending local Bay Area Parkour jams.  Currently he is obsessed with winning “Ninja Warrior”, the hardest obstacle course in the world.

Andrés is realistic and honest about how CrossFit relates to climbing and about what it can and cannot do for your climbing career and is happy to help athletes attain their goals at whatever  level they find themselves, from noobs and rooks to advanced and elite athletes.
