Some of PG Sunnyvale’s coaches planning out the days program: Dan, Ngan and Art

Team got off to a great start this week!  With almost 30 members in PG Sunnyvale alone, Planet Granite is going strong for the 2009-10 season!  First comp we’re going to is City Beach in Fremont, this Saturday!  Mike Abell, head coach for PG Sunnyvale will be there too!  Don’t forget to sign up!

Check out the info listed below:  PG will be going to the following three comps.  Addresses are listed.  For any additional information, please email your coach:
Mike: coachsv@planetgranite.com
Ryan: coachbl@planetgranite.com
Ben: coachsf@planetgranite.com

Citybeach Fremont
4020 Technology Place,
Fremont, California, 94538
1.800.354.3010

The competition goes from 1pm-5pm. I recommend showing up about an hour early around 12 noon to warm up and hear the rules.

Registration

There’s three ways to get into the competition:
1. a $5 fee to enter the competition without USA Climbing registration.
-Note: unregistered climbers are NOT ranked meaning they can simply compete, but will not be placed into a category or be eligible to compete regionally  or nationally.

2. a $30 fee to register for ABS competitions ONLY
-meaning, climbers can compete in any ABS bouldering competition without paying a $5 fee, and also will be ranked and be eligible to compete regionally and nationally

3. a $70 fee to register for both ABS competitions and SCS (Sport Climbing Series) competitions
     – this membership includes both ABS competitions and SCS competitions.  We will be participating in the SCS  held during spring.  $70 membership includes eligibility to compete at a divisional level as well.  (SCS has three levels: Regionals—>Divisonals—>Nationals / ABS only has two: Regionals—>Nationals)

In order to compete in regionals on top of USA Climbing membership, climbers need to go to three local competitions:

Citybeach counts as one
Then Santuary in Sand City
Twisters in Mountain View
If Pacific Edge in Santa Cruz holds a competition will we go there instead of Sand City

Then finally regionals will be held at Citybeach

Online RegistrationHere is the URL to register online for USA Climbing:

Registration might take a couple weeks, so show up to the competition with a confirmation email sent by USA Climbing after your registered to avoid having to pay $5.
