Friction Series SF was two weeks ago and while we’re still reeling from the excitement, we are looking forward to Sunnyvale’s finale! Since launching the Friction Series back in 2009 and creating the first Bay Area Onsight Final in 2010 – this comp has grown to be a ton of fun and excitement! Local strong men and women get to duke it out high on ropes and compete for cold hard cash while we cheer them on! Even better, these routes stay up so you can test your strengths against some of the best climbers in our community.

As if you need more motivation to attend, we thought we’d recap San Francisco’s comp with some great photos by our own Brian Hedrick (aka CUZ) and guest photographer Jassa Campbell. Get psyched!!! See you Friday April 19th at PG Sunnyvale for Friction Series part III and the Onsight Series Final!

The Friction Series is our Spring Roped Climbing comp held at each of our locations with an Onsight Final to conclude the events. Running for the 5th year in a row, the Friction Series is a fun community event where everyone can test their skills and watch others climb! Best yet, the final comp in PG Sunnyvale hosts the Onsight Series Final which takes the top 3 men and women who compete for cash prizes on challenging lead routes. Open to all abilities, and fun for all ages – it’s a Friday night at PG you won’t want to miss!

COMP SCHEDULE
Friday February 8th – PG Belmont
Friday March 15th – PG San Francisco
Friday April 19th – PG Sunnyvale + Onsight Series Finals!*

CATEGORIES
Comps are open to people of all ages and categories (for both men and women)are as follows:
Recreational: up to 5.10b
Advanced: 5.10c-5.11c
Open (lead only): 5.11d and higher.

ONSIGHT SERIES FINALS
The top 3 scores of the entire comp will be invited to pariticpate in our Onsight Series Final at PG Sunnyvale! This is not cumulative scoring, so if your score at PG Belmont beats out the top scores from PG Sunnyvale and PG San Francisco, you’ll be invited! Witness the best climbers duke it out high above on ropes in an action packed, breath holding event! Even better – the routes will be left up after the comp so you can test your skills against the best.
First Place – $150 cash!
Second Place – $100
Third Place – $50

RAFFLE FOR PRIZES PLUS FOOD AND BEER!
A raffle will be held to auction off amazing gear by our awesome sponsors. We’ll have some yummy grub, great beer and of course Tshirts! There’s no other place to be on Friday night!

It’s time! Planet Granite’s 5th Annual Bloc Party is BACK! These three events promise an action packed adventure, with two sweet additions! PG Belmont is celebrating their 10 year anniversary! We didn’t think cake would be enough, so join us for some special culinary action and fun games! And if our Onsight Series Finals aren’t sweet enough to finish it all off, we’re also celebrating PG’s 18 years in business! Yup, that’s right, we’ve been Climbing the Walls since 1994 and it’s all thanks to our amazing members like you! Be sure to stop by for an extra photo fun surprise!

Comps start at 5pm.

Remember, our Onsight Series Final takes the top 5 scores earned and sets them against each other in a mind blowing, all out climbing fest. You’ve got 3 chances, once at each comp, to get your score to be in the top 5! Mark your calendars - this year’s events are not to be missed.

Scores will be posted on our competition page, photos will be uploaded to our Facebook Page.

Details: The Bloc Party is our Fall Bouldering Comp Series held at each of our locations. Competitions are open to people of all ages and categories are as follows: Mens: Recreational V0-V3 Advanced V3-V6 Open V6+ Womens: Recreational V0-V2 Advanced V2-V4 Open V5+

Onsight Series Final The top 5 scores of the competitions from each mens and womens are invited to compete in a Series Final that takes place at the end of the last comp. The Series Final consists of 3 problems with 5 minutes for each competitor to attempt the climb. Winners take home cold hard cash.
