Climbing Competitions
Planet Granite hosts two community competition series each year: the Friction Series and the Bloc Party. These competitions are a great way to hang out with your friends, meet new ones and participate in some sick climbing! Plus, they are FREE for PG Members. :)
The Friction Series
The Friction Series is our Spring Roped Climbing comp held at each of our locations with an Onsight Final to conclude the events. Competitions are open to people of all ages and categories are as follows:
Recreational: up to 5.10b
Advanced: 5.10c-5.11c
Open (lead only): 5.11d and higher.
There is a category for men and for women. The top 3 scores of the competition from mens and womens are invited to compete in the Onsight Final with chance to win CASH!
Bloc Party Series
The Bloc Party is our Fall Bouldering Comp Series held at each of our locations. Competitions are open to people of all ages and categories are as follows:
Mens:
Recreational V0-V3
Advanced V3-V6
Open V6+
Womens:
Recreational V0-V2
Advanced V2-V4
Open V5+
The top 5 scores of the competitions from each mens and womens are invited to compete in a Series Final that takes place at the end of the last comp. The Series Final consists of 3 problems with 5 minutes for each competitor to attempt the climb. Winners take home cold hard cash.
