LAWRENCE

For 20 years Lawrence has been primarily a builder. It was through critical lower back injuries that he has come to find yoga. And so, for the last 10 years he has continued to study one form, B.K.S. Iyengar yoga. He is currently enrolled in the Advanced Studies program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco and is in his last year of their two-year program.    Lawrence began his teaching career of Iyengar style yoga 3 years ago at Planet Granite Belmont. He teaches 4 classes a week and continues to work as Lead Carpenter for Building Lab, based out of the East Bay. He is also a Certified Rock Guide with the American Mountain Guides Association and does private guiding to the Sierra and Red Rocks of Nevada.   From his practice of Astanga yoga came an appreciation of anatomy and physiology. So he has deepened his practice to serve others by studying energy work and becoming a Certified Massage Practitioner.    "Yoga has been described as wisdom in work or skilful living amongst activities, harmony and moderation. Yoga is a technique ideally suited to prevent physical and mental illness and to protect the body generally." Yehudi Menuhin
