Climbing for Kids

Climbing is a great sport for kids as it helps build core strength, confidence, and problem-solving skills.  We offer a number of programs for kid’s of all ages. 

Since climbers under the age of 14, they are not allowed to belay (manage the climber’s safety rope). All climbers under the age of 18 must have a completely filled-out waiver signed by their parents.  The signing parent’s driver’s license must be presented for ID verification.  A photocopy is acceptable.

Planet Granite Manages the Ropes Party

A two-hour party with our staff working the ropes for your children. Cost is $70 per instructor and $14 per child - we recommend one instructor per 5 children, maximum is 6.
Minimum cost of $100. Please call for reservations.

Learn to Manage the Ropes for your Kids

Want to bring in a small group of children? You can learn how to manage the ropes for them. This is a two step process.

First, you’ll need to learn how to belay by taking one of our scheduled belay lessons. In a belay lesson you’ll learn how to tie the knots, the proper safety checks and how to manage the rope for a climber. Click here to view lesson times. Please call to make a reservation.

Second, you need to be belay “certified” before your event. This means that you’ll need to come in one more time after the lesson and before the day of the event to take a belay test and show that you’ve correctly remembered all of the safety checks and proper belay technique. On the day of your event you will be responsible for putting harnesses on the kids and belaying for them.

Please call for reservations for the belay lesson.
Cost is $34 for every parent/child pair. There are no fees or reservations required for taking your belay test).

All programs include harnesses and helmets.

After School Program

After school sessions are on Mondays through Thursday, from 3:30-5:30 and are $25 per child per session.

Kid's Climb & Dine

Bring your kids to climb and give yourself some time. Price includes two hours of climbing time, gear and a "kid's style" dinner. When you pick your kids up at 8:30 pm, they'll be tired, fed and ready for bed!
Kids Climb & Dine is on Friday nights, from 6-8:30 pm. Reservations are required. Kids under 18 must have their parent sign a waiver and have the same parent photocopy their licence.
Minimum 3 kids per session. Under attended sessions will be canceled by 5ph Thursday evening. Minimum age is 6 years.

$40 per session.

Scouts

We offer climbing programs for Scout troops!
Girl Scouts can earn Participation Patches, Climbing Safety Badges, and Interest Badges.
Boy Scouts can earn Indoor Climbing Merit Badges.

Summer Camp

PG Belmont's Indoor Climbing Camps meet Monday through Friday from 1:00-5:00 pm. You will explore all of the climbing features of the gym including indoor and outdoor bouldering areas, and the roped walls. During your week at Climbing Camp, our experienced instructors will teach you a wide variety of climbing and safety skills, and of course there will be plenty of time to climb the walls. Don¹t forget the free Planet Granite T-shirt for every camper! Indoor camps are for kids 6-13 years old and run from June through August. Camps will be offered at both the Sunnyvale and Belmont facilities.

Meeting times: M-F 1-5pm.
