PG SAN FRANCISCO - EARLY STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION

PG-San Francisco exterior. The new Planet Granite will be at 924 Mason St. on the Presidio in a building known as "The Glass Palace". The interior shot shows off the glass and building size. You can also see the P&H Bridge crane from the building's original use. We'll be turning the crane platform in to a stretching area with fantastic views.

A seismic retrofit was the first order of business to get this building ready for climbing. It began 10/2007. These shots show the steel frames that will provide earthquake support being assembled. Masonry and shotcrete shear walls have also been installed. Retrofit work should be completed early 2008.

This San Francisco location is simply beautiful! Here the construction crew enjoys lunch with great views of the bay and the Golden Gate from the roof. Looking across Crissy Field, the Palace of Fine Arts can be seen from all the front windows!

So what do you do when the roof of a climbing gym just isn't high enough? You pop it up! These shots show the demolition of a section of the existing roof and the new steel framing to bring the roof up another 12 feet. The pop-up roof will have two roll-up doors to provide climbers with well-earned views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge!

Let the climbing begin! Seen here is the skeleton of some of the bouldering and the bouldering ramp. So where does the bouldering ramp lead? Why to another story of bouldering, of course! By climbing up this ramp and continuing on the upstairs formations, you can gain 30 vertical feet, while all the time bouldering.
