PG SAN FRANCISCO BOULDERING

Posted February 2008: The bouldering walls have come a long way in a very short time! These two photos show two sections of the same bouldering wall. Notice in the left side of the left picture, there is a staircase.
This will lead to an upstairs workout area (check out those photos here) and offices.
Check out the pictures below to see where the right side of these bouldering walls lead.

The left photo shows the ramp. A climber will be able to traverse all the way across the back wall of this bouldering area, up the ramp and onto...you guessed it...more bouldering! All with amazing views of Crissey Field and the San Francisco Bay. As always, no construction site is complete without a large tub of licorice.

The left picture shows the initial stages of the upstairs bouldering area. You can see the ramp behind the wood framing. The right picture shows the view looking down into the ramp--it's going to be steep.

These pictures were taken on March 5. Look how much has been done! The left photo is a view of the bouldering area. The right photo shows a closer view of the same area. The people standing on top are overlooking the climbing from what will be a lounge area with more bouldering behind. Just to their left, where the top of the boudler slabs out, is top out bouldering with lounge area access. See more close ups below!

A panoramic view of the second story bouldering area. On the left, you can see a cat walk and a set of stairs that leads up to our stretching area, located high above all the climbing. The climbing ramp joins the second story in the back corner seen in the middle of the picture. Along the back of the wall to the right will be more bouldering!

View of top out bouldering's access to the lounge area. There are three ways to get to the second story, a 40 foot steep climbing ramp (see pictures below), stairs, and climbing up and topping out!

The first stucco has been placed! The left photo is the same bouldering area pictured at the top, only now it has stucco! On the left, you can see the transition from plywood and wire to stucco. On the right you can see the ramp is almost complete!

Looking down the newly stuccoed ramp. It is steep!

More freshly painted walls. The right photo shows the newly completed Top Out Boulder. Located in the middle of the gym, in a prime location that can be viewed from the high stretching area, the second story workout area and the front desk, this bouldering structure stands around 14 feet high!
An escape ramp (not shown) is on the opposite side for easy downclimbing fun.

Panoramic close-up of our Top Out Boulder. It's gonna be good!

Panoramic view: On the far right, you can see the entrance to the second yoga room. The beige part of the boulder in the center of the photo can be topped out, allowing for three way to access to the second story:
climb up the ramp, walk up the stairs or top out the boulder shown here.
The left, red part of the boulder is a steep cave
--at a perfect angle where holds can be small but you can still hang on!
